Ms. Le Veque writes a rather good adventure story, for the most part. Battle scenes ring true, in so far as a twentieth century woman could imagine them to be. Most of the historical descriptions fall in line with what I learned as a history major. Dialogue seems to flow naturally, giving the effect of being a formal 'old style', without sacrificing modern spelling to which we have become accustomed. All of which beggars the question: how could she screw up so badly by placing New World species in England? Raccoons were never in England, so there is no way anyone could have made one into a pet! And pumpkins at harvest festival? Considering they are native to the western hemisphere and didn't make their way back to Europe until the Spaniards took seeds, planted them, and eventually grew enough to begin trading them - in Elizabethan England - pumpkins were never a part of any English harvest festival that would have taken place at the time these stories take place. Mistakes like this are more than a little annoying.Now, it's true we read her books because of all the big strong men, and women who, eventually, find love with them. But for once, couldn't there be a slightly taller woman, instead of a petite, fine-boned gamin? For once, couldn't the hero simply be more clever than the bad guys, and maybe stand only six feet tall? A man winning with his brain is at least as sexy as someone who conquers by brute strength.I think Ms. Le Veque would benefit by slowing down a bit, and churning out one less book a year, or three fewer in every decade. Get ALL the history right, and make a greater effort at more individual characters for the heroes and heroines.And, please get one more proofreader to keep the typos, skipped words and wrong words from showing up.
I enjoyed the stories, however it's getting quite upsetting to buy a title only to find out I already purchased it under a different name. Is this misleading or cheating?

I know that she has spent so many hours in her research, it cannot even be counted!Each of these stories are standalone books that have been previously released. But all together there are hours of amazing reading that will capture your imagination in a different world. Spanning England and Scotland, there is an abundance of adventure and romance will make your heart expand and you will hold your breath.Treat yourself to this collection and escape into the world of Lasses, Lords and Lovers!!
Even though there were numerous books in this collection, l enjoyed each and every one. They each contained twists and turns and kept me entertained. A good read. Thoroughly recommend. ..
This is my first purchase of this author. I love reading books set in this time period. I'm into the first book of this bundle, and find I'm having a difficult time finishing. I find it ridiculous that the female lead has to weep as much as she does. Not really sure I want to read the other books if the female leads do as much or more weeping.
The intrigue suspense and outcome of all of Kathrn’s books
I want to start off by saying that each and every one of these stories are great reads. We must remember this is Medieval Romance and whoever believes Medieval times were all fair and Rose's, just needs to remember that is not true. Those were some of the most barbaric and up and down times in history. Some got what they deserved, some did not. This author tries to stay true to the time period while creating a love story. I personally go in to reading which ever story I purchase understanding the time period.I can highly recommend all of these stories. I personally read over 250 books a year sometimes well over that! I would never recommend a story just because or to be proper. I stick to my personal star ratings. If you love Medieval Romances with, action, intrigue, close to reality and romance please pick this collection up. For the price you will be getting hours and hours of great reading.I have purchased every one of these stories in their individual form and loved them. I hope you take a chance and enjoy them.
I have read each book in this collection individually and can say for a fact that Kathryn Leveque does her research and knows how to make each story come alive. Each book is very well written, they all contain tastefully written passion and deep emotion. Included in these stories is accurate history and not only enhances ones romantic notions but also introduces how love and integrity can survive such turbulent times.Excellent Reads!
