Bought this to help teach my kids during Black History Month. Such a sweet and empowering book. I have 2 boys, but I like them to remove gender and race bias and I hope books showing strong intelligent black women can do that.
My two-year-old read about Mae in her beloved Women Scientist book so when I saw this, I knew I had to get it. Now she tells everyone she meets that she wants to be an astronaut like Mae Jemison. This book is beautifully illustrated and simply written. I love it just as much as my future astronaut!
Beautiful book! My almost-2 year old was captivated by the gorgeous illustrations and his dad and I loved the story, meaning, and message. This will now be my go-to gift for my son's friends. It's my favorite book on his (huge) shelf of books!
A Wonderfully crafted account of young Mae. An inspiring story from start to finish. And the illustration is done beautifully. My daughter eats this story up! And it’s easy to explain how that you shouldn’t let anything deter you from your dreams and goals. Be it race gender or whatever.
